Today started off with a blaring fire alarm at 5am for me, a sleepily muttered “crap” and a blurred scramble to find footwear and a jacket. Luckily, there was no fire, so I went back to sleep for a couple hours. The adventures continued with shovelling snow for the first time ever to clear a path for a van to take some friends back to Harpenden, about 4 hours away. Shelby and I followed the van for a little while to make sure that they were okay, and ended up rescuing two young men who were stuck in a parking lot. That was fun!
The rest of the day was a quiet, relaxing day after sending the other DTSs off to their respective homes, at least until dinner. We headed over to the Vening’s for a fondue dinner, and on the way had a spontaneous snowball fight with three Welsh lads. Our dinner was full of laughter and thanksgiving for a wonderful week full of wonderful people. (The week long conference we just finished hosting was amazing from my perspective!) On the walk home, Lacey, Shelby, Gary, Dave, Amanda and I made snow angels, had several snowball fights, went snow bowling, ate some icicles and laughed a lot more. Now, I’m eating snow cream with honey, cinnamon and cardamom. It’s been a good day!
